GVF — Filmmaker and writer Mohammad Nourizad has been freed from prison.
According to the Kaleme website, he was temporarily released on bail after enduring months of torture and hunger strike in Evin prison. The bail amount is said to have been more than $300,000.
The writer had been imprisoned for his critical letters to the Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei in the months following the rigged presidential election of June 2009. It should be noted that Nourizad’s letters to the Supreme Leader did not come to an end following his arrest, despite the unbearable conditions he was under.
